Competitive Team

Our competitive team swims year-round. A try-out is required before registering.

Our Stroke School is devoted to competitive stroke instruction with an emphasis on balance in the water through specialized drills. The program is for swimmer under 14 looking for a supplement for summer league. 

High School Prep is designed to give those participating on their high school swim teams a jump start to the high school season.

Coaching Staff

Nicole Linn - Lead Bronze 1, Developmental Director

Coach Nicole started with NCAP in 2013, coaching the Bronze 2 and Bronze 3 groups for the past 10 years as well as leading the Developmental Program since 2019 and coaching a Bronze 1 group in 2018. She will continue to lead the Bronze 2, Bronze 3, and Developmental groups in the 2023-2024 season.

Nicole grew up swimming in Florida and graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She went on to get her special education certification and Montessori 6-9 certification, teaching various grades of Elementary School for 12 years before having her daughter in 2018. Prior to moving to Virginia in 2013, Coach Nicole coached a club and high school team in Florida and did some masters and open water swimming as well.

Coach Nicole brings her teaching skills to the pool and believes in developing strong foundational skills with our young swimmers to pave the way for continued development and success as they get older and progress through life and the sport of swimming. She strides to develop and instill not only strong physical skills and habits of swimming, but also mental and life skills including self-accountability, work ethic, listening skills, perseverance, patience, respect for the self and teammates, and confidence in our young athletes.

Bryce Bohman - Lead Gold 2, Silver

Bryce started with NCAP in the 2021-2022 season.  He is the Lead Bronze 1 and Silver Coach at Freedom Center. He brings over 25 years of swimming experience and success, both as a coach and athlete at all levels.

Prior to NCAP, Bryce spent 4 seasons as Lead Senior Coach at Longhorn Aquatics in Austin, Texas. While at TXLA, Bryce assisted with developing Olympic Trial qualifiers, Jr National Champions, and TAGS qualifiers. Bryce began his coaching career as an Assistant Senior Coach at Club Mountaineer Aquatics and graduated from West Virginia University with a Masters Degree in Athletic Coaching Education.

Bryce grew up in Moline, IL, and started swimming at the age of 7. After high school, Bryce was recruited to swim for Lincoln College where he was a 3x NJCAA Champion and National Record Holder. After 2 years at Lincoln, Bryce attended West Virginia University where he qualified for the 2012 Olympic Trials. Bryce was a 2x NCAA All-American placing 5th in both the 100 & 200 Backstroke his senior season. During that year Bryce was the Big XII Conference Champion in the 100 Backstroke and named the 2014 BIG XII Swimmer of the Year. Bryce excelled post-college in the pool qualifying for the 2016 and 2021 Olympic Trials and was a multi-time National Finalist.

Bryce lives in Bristow, VA with his wife, Lia, son Brett, and dog, Ruby.

Daniel Gardner - Bronze Assistant, HS Prep

Daniel joined NCAP in the Fall of 2022 and is excited to be back for his second season with NCAP. Daniel attended James Madison University where he studied Mathematics and Statistics. This fall, he is going into his second year as a substitute teacher for Prince William County School teaching in middle and high school classrooms, while he continues his training to become a professional Pilot.

Daniel grew up swimming and coaching during his summers in the Prince William County Swim League until leaving for college. After graduating from JMU in 2022, Daniel made his return to coaching in the summer with the Bridlewood Bwaves running their 15-18 age group for 2022 and 2023. In the fall of 2022 he joined NCAP as an assistant coach for the Bronze and Developmental groups. He helped Coach Nicole and Coach Bryce with a focus on improving athletes fundamentals across all four stroke disciplines. In the winter of 2022 he returned to his former high school as the Assistant Coach for Swim and Dive at Patriot High School, where the Boys were District and Regional Champs for the 22-23 season.

In his second season, he will continue to assist for all three Bronze groups with Coach Nicole and Coach Bryce. In addition to assisting with the Bronze groups, Daniel will be heading up the new High School Prep group at the Freedom Center. He will be focusing on developing athletes in preparation for their high school season.

Zach Rowe - Lead Bronze 2, Bronze 3

Coach Zach joined the NCAP Claude Moore staff in September 2023, leading the Silver 2 and Bronze 2 groups and assisting with the Silver 1 athletes.  Zach grew up in the area living in Prince William County and started swimming when he was five at his local community pool. He started swimming at NCAP WEST when he was 11 and grew up on the team spending his last three years of high school swimming under Jeremy Linn. After Zach graduated high school, he went on to swim at the University of Delaware for two years before taking a break from school to come back home.  

Zach started coaching for his summer league swim team, the Bridlewood Waves, as a junior coach when he was 15 and then came back as an assistant coach in 2022 where he focused on coaching the 13-14 year old age group. During Summer 2023, he took on the Head Coach role and led them to win their Division Championship meet.   He is looking forward to this upcoming season and working with some of our NCAPers at Bridlewood.  

After the past few summers and his first year with NCAP, Zach found his passion for coaching and working with kids. He is looking forward to returning to the WEST family and hopes he can help continue building the culture and community that he grew up with.
