Amanda Shomgard - Gold 3, Bronze 1 Assistant

Coach Amanda is excited to join NCAP for the 2025-2026 season! She started her swimming journey in first grade, and her passion for swimming grew from there. Coach Amanda grew up in Pennsylvania where she swam for a YMCA team in her younger days and two club teams in high school. She went on to swim for Towson University, but had to stop due to an injury. Despite the hardship of working through an injury, it led to the beginning of her coaching career while she finished her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. Coach Amanda enjoyed moving to new areas and learning from each team she coached. Her first full-time coaching job was for Merritt Athletic Swimming in Maryland. After that she moved to New York City to coach for Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics. She then moved on to be closer to family as Head Age Group Coach for Blue Eagle Swim Team in Nazareth, PA. Lastly, she moved to Chicago to be the Head Coach of Big Blue Aquatics. Due to the growth of the swim school associated with the team, Coach Amanda’s team merged with New Trier Aquatics.

Throughout the years, Coach Amanda worked with many private lessons, summer league teams, clinics, Masters teams, and triathlon clubs. Coach Amanda believes in using the sport to help swimmers develop strong life skills that can be used in and out of the pool. She is very excited to work with new swimmers and coaches at NCAP! Outside of coaching, you will find her spending time with her two dogs, Saige and Charley, as well as her three rabbits named Kona, Kai, and Tuzi.
